About Me

I teach biblical studies at Elizabethtown College, my alma mater. After completing my BA in Religion and Philosophy at Elizabethtown, I studied at Bethany Theological Seminary, where I graduated with an MATh. After Bethany, I moved to southern California for a doctoral program at Claremont Graduate University. While at Claremont, I worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Antiquity and Christianity and spent nine months in Tübingen, Germany, working at the Institut für ökumenische Forschung.

At Elizabethtown College, I have served as chair of the Department of Religious Studies and as Dean of Faculty. I have been active in the Society of Biblical Literature and currently serve on the editorial board
of the Believers Church Bible Commentary series, published by Herald Press.

My current research focuses upon the biblical book Song of
Songs. I am especially interested in the reception history of Song of Songs and other biblical literature.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as reading, listening to classical music (especially to J. S. Bach and Arvo Pärt), travelling, and visiting art museums.
